SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by major websites such as Google, Facebook, Wikipedia, Twitter, etc. in the protection of their online data transfers/transactions with their visitors/customers. SSL security is recognised by the 'https' prefix in a websites URL (as opposed to the non-secure 'http' prefix).
You may have recently noticed that no matter which page of our website you are browsing, you now see a ‘padlock’ symbol present in the top-left of the URL ’address bar’ of your web browser. This ‘padlock’ security symbol is something that has always been present at the ‘Checkout’ stage of our web-store since day one because SSL security/privacy is mandatory at ‘Checkout’ stages for all secure web-stores like ours. That being said, however, this SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is not mandatory for general browsing of web-stores prior to entering the ‘Checkout’ stages, therefore the majority of web-stores still don’t incorporate this extra layer of security before the actual 'Checkout' stage.
