My payment has declined, what should I do?

The payment side of our checkout is securely hosted by PayPal, however, that does not necessarily mean that you require a PayPal account to pay for an order. You can still pay using the card of your choice thanks to PayPal's guest checkout functionality (click here for a step-by-step guide to using PayPal's guest checkout).

Resolving Payment Declines

Debit/Credit Card Declines Within PayPal’s Guest Checkout

  • If the email address that you enter into PayPal’s guest checkout is linked to an existing or pre-existing PayPal account, then this will often cause a payment decline because PayPal senses that you have or had an account with them. If this is likely the case, then simply use an alternative email address.
  • You can enter a 'Shipping Address' that is different from your 'Billing Address', however, please make sure that the ‘Billing Address’ you enter within PayPal’s guest checkout matches exactly the address that is associated with the card that you are paying with.
  • Check that the order total does not exceed your card’s available funds.
  • Sometimes the card decline is coming from your bank as opposed to PayPal. If you believe it is likely that your decline is coming from your bank, then please reach out to your bank to resolve the decline, or try using a different card.

If the advice provided above fails to resolve your payment decline, then we would recommend that you create an account with PayPal to avoid further declines. Alternatively, please send us an email by clicking here and we will try to further assist.

Require An Alternative Payment Method?

If you are ordering for delivery to a UK address and would instead prefer to pay by Credit/Debit Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, etc., then please visit a newly authorised reseller of ours on Etsy clicking here.

Declines When Paying From A PayPal Account

  • Make sure that your PayPal account is fully verified, meaning that you have verified your identity with PayPal by confirming ownership of your given bank account and/or payment card.
  • Check that your bank account and/or payment card within your PayPal account are current and correct.
  • Check that the order total does not exceed the currently available funds on your bank account and/or payment card.
  • Sometimes the decline is coming from your bank as opposed to PayPal. If you believe it is likely that your decline is coming from your bank, then please reach out to your bank to resolve the decline, or try adding a different bank account or debit/credit card to your PayPal wallet.

If the advice provided above fails to resolve your payment decline, then we would recommend that you contact PayPal to ask them why you are experiencing a payment decline. Alternatively, please send us an email by clicking here and we will try to further assist.
